RELEASE: Yarmouth, ME, April 6, 2005 - Kepware Technologies, a leading worldwide supplier of OPC client/server technology, announces the release of their Device Auto-Demotion function which allows a KEPServerEX driver to temporarily place a device off-scan in the event that a device is not responding. By placing a non-responsive device off-line, the driver can continue to optimize its communications with other devices on the same channel by stopping communications with the non-responsive device for a user specified time period. After the specified time period has been reached, the driver will re-attempt to communicate with the non-responsive device. If the device is response, the device will be placed back on-scan, otherwise it will restart its off-scan time period. Kepware's President, Mark Hensley says "Occasionally any communication link can be adversely affected by environmental interference or failure of connecting hardware. The new Device Auto-Demotion function improves the ability of KEPServerEX drivers to isolate a problematic device and remove it from the polling loop - dramatically enhancing the performance of the link as a whole."
