Kepware Technologies, a leading worldwide supplier of OPC
client/server technology, announces today the release of
their new OPC RedundancyMaster™ product. The OPC RedundancyMaster
increases the reliability and availability of OPC data by
allowing multiple OPC servers to be configured into redundant
pairs. These redundant OPC server pairs seamlessly appear
as a single OPC server to any OPC client application. By
transparently mapping multiple OPC servers to appear as a
single OPC server, redundancy can be added to any existing
OPC enabled application without having to reconfigure the
current system. This drop-in design was a key development
goal says, Mark Hensley, President of Kepware. "We know
that there are many customers that depend on high data availability.
In many cases those customers have a limited ability to change
their OPC application making drop-in redundancy crucial."
The RedundancyMaster allows for Hot, Warm or Cold Fail-over
between primary and secondary opc servers. In addition to
monitoring the availability of a server in a redundant pair,
any number of monitor items can be configured to trigger
a fail-over from the primary to the secondary server. Once
fail-over occurs, fall-back options allow complete control
over when and if there is any attempt to return to the primary
server. All these events are logged and can be used to automatically
generate email alerts to keep maintenance personnel aware
of any potential communications issues.
