HEADLINE: Kepware Technologies Releases Performance
Enhanced Siemens Ethernet with additional NetLink Adapter
support

Kepware Technologies, a leading worldwide supplier of OPC
server technology, announces today the release of the enhanced
Siemens Ethernet OPC Server for the S7 PLC family. This newly
updated driver takes advantage of advanced features within
the Siemens communications protocol that allows more efficient
transfer of data. The new driver can gather diverse sets
of data located throughout PLC memory using a single request.
Writes to PLC memory have also been enhanced using the same
technology. The performance gains can be significant. Depending
on the application, users may see data throughput improvement
by a factor of three. Existing customers can upgrade to this

In addition to the speed enhancements of the native Siemens
Ethernet driver Kepware has also added support for the NetLink
communications adapter. The NetLink adapter offers a low
cost method of accessing Siemens S7-300 or S7-400 PLCs over
Ethernet without the expense of the associated Siemens communication
card at each PLC. The NetLink adapter will be offered directly
by Kepware for use with KEPServerEX. "Keeping cost
low and flexibility high is something we try to offer our
customers" says Mark Hensley. "When used with
KEPServerEX, the NetLink Adapter provides a very cost-effective
means of collecting data."
