RELEASE: Portland, ME, May 16, 2007 - Kepware Technologies announces a partnership with Automation Training to offer additional OPC-based training in the United States
OPC is a widely accepted industrial communication standard that enables the exchange of data between multi-vendor devices and control applications without any proprietary restrictions. OPC is a Client / Server technology where one application acts as the server providing data and another acts as a client using data. An OPC server can communicate data continuously among PLCs on the shop floor, RTUs in the field, HMI stations, and software applications on desktop PCs.
The OPC training offering by Kepware and Automation Training is a comprehensive overview of OPC followed by an in-depth discussion of OPC's most popular specification: OPC Data Access (DA). The course will provide a working knowledge of OPC client/server technologies. Our experienced trainers will provide practical hands-on examples using real PLCs from Allen Bradley, Siemens or another popular PLC of your choice. On completion of the course, students will be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and optimize a typical OPC DA-based system for data collection and storage. According to George Richards of Automation Training, "This training fits in nicely with the existing PLC and HMI training courses that we offer. Kepware has strong name recognition in the industrial market and has an extensive list of drivers for the PLCs that we provide in our custom training. The resulting training course is the perfect blend of our PLC and training experience combined with Kepware's OPC and communications experience."
