Data Highway Plus Network Using AB DF1 Driver

A simple and cost effective way to access Allen Bradley's Data Highway Plus can be realized using Kepware's Allen Bradley DF1 Driver and DATA LINK Technologies, Inc. DL-PC communications card.

Data Highway Plus Network using KEPServerEX's Allen Bradley DF1 OPC Driver

KEPServerEX's Allen Bradley DF1 driver uses the Allen Bradley DF1 protocol to provide direct connection to Allen Bradley equipment which supports DF1 or Channel 0 communications. Accessing multiple devices on a Data Highway Plus network would normally require the use of a converter like the Allen Bradley KF2 module. The KF2 module is effective but can be still be costly and doesn't provide high speed access the Data Highway Network.

DATA LINK Technologies provides a solution that is both cost effective and offers high speed access. The DATALINK DL-PC communications card for the ISA bus provides a high speed link between KEPServerEX's DF1 driver and the Data Highway Plus network. The DL-PC card acts as a DF1 to Data Highway Plus converter. Once installed in your PC the DL-PC acts and appears like a standard PC communications port. Once the DL-PC is assigned to a communications port you can simply select that port when configuring the DF1 driver within KEPServerEX. The DL-PC card supports a baud rate of up to 115K baud. The DL-PC card must be configured to use CRC as the message check method. After the driver is configured, access to multiple devices on the Data Highway Plus network is easy and fast.
