Applications Engineer

PTC’s Industrial Connectivity offerings via the Kepware brand are the global de facto standard for industrial system integration. Kepware’s team of Applications Engineers are a high-profile group that work primarily with sales teams to ensure that all technical aspects of system integration and industrial connectivity are expertly managed throughout the entirety of the sales process. They will also facilitate communication of technical concepts between Sales, Marketing, Support, Product Management, and Engineering teams in addition to the authoring and administering of technical collateral such as how-to documents, videos, and live webinars. They will also create demonstration tools for sales and marketing efforts. Up to 25% of the time may be dedicated to travel in the US and internationally.

Kepware’s Applications Engineers are positioned across the world with the majority of our team located in PTC’s Portland, Maine office. We collaborate extensively within and outside of our team to accomplish our goals.

Your Day-to-Day:

Our work is executed in a variety of ways including email, phone, case systems, virtual and physical business meetings, on-site and remote software and hardware integration, and light software and mechanical system development. Our team supports a high-volume software business while at the same time demanding extremely high levels of precision and quality. Our role includes the following expectations:

  1. Proficiency in the presentation and demonstration of the technical aspects of PTC’s Kepware industrial connectivity products, as well as any relevant protocols or technology.
    1. Technology includes computer networking, web services, OPC-enabled products, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs, RTUs, PACs, etc.), SCADA/HMI/MES/ERP/IT software packages, big data platforms, data analytics tools, and IoT platforms.
  2. Participation as a technical resource on customer calls with Sales and Product Management teams when necessary. Provide delivery of pre-sales support capability in conjunction with sales efforts.
  3. Continuous research of network protocols, specifications, and other technologies related to the industries Kepware serves. This includes user application stories and competitors’ products.
  4. Application of technical competencies to create meaningful content for instructional videos, technical guides, specification sheets, live webinars/consultations, and other collateral.
  5. Facilitation of interdepartmental communication between Sales, Marketing, Support, Product Management, and Engineering when necessary.
  6. Sales and marketing product demonstration development

Skills and knowledge:

  • Significant, demonstrated success in customer-facing roles; sales, support, or software or hardware product training
  • Professional working knowledge of computer networking technologies - physical mediums like Ethernet and Serial as well as data transport and application-level protocols
  • Experience in computer programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C++/C#
  • Applied mechanical/electrical/computer engineering or computer science experience
  • Some experience with database systems.
  • Up to 25% travel

Basic qualifications:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or technical degree; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or related field is a plus
  • MS or graduate-level/research experience in STEM is a plus.
DevOps Coach

Using excellent communication and collaboration skills you will work closely with development teams and leadership to integrate a culture of DevOps into our existing Agile environment.  You will collaborate with engineers and leadership to shape and execute a DevOps vision which integrates people, processes and tools to maximize the organizations effectiveness to build and deliver secure and high-quality software.  As a DevOps practitioner with practical experience, you will be able to articulate the challenges of DevOps and team interactions while offering tested approaches to remedy these challenges.    You will be part of a fast-moving, responsive engineering group using Agile development processes to create world class software products which delight our customers.  Your mission will be to serve our teams and our customers through the protection of our core values in all team interactions, while improving operational flow and removing all impediments that could impact success and continued improvement. Your Day-To-Day:

On a daily basis, you will work with teams to execute their mission to deliver great software in line with business direction, while building the skills and abilities of the team through experimentation, inspection and adaption.  Through servant-leadership, using a data-driven approach, you will help teams gain visibility into their strengths, and provide guidance to help them identify and iteratively work on areas that need improvement.  You will champion DevOps methodologies, coach teams and leadership on DevOps best practices, and help them adapt and modify existing processes to integrate a DevOps mindset into day-to-day operations.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Thought leader and expert on DevOps methods and best use of DevOps tools
  • Ability to gauge team DevOps and Agile maturity and coach the team/organization to transform and grow at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for both.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in implementing DevOps practices/tools in areas such as continuous integration/delivery solutions, platform and release automation, tool selection, metrics tracking
  • Minimum 2 years coaching individuals and teams in Agile best practices preferably in a development or operations role
  • Experience with DevOps tools across development lifecycle (e.g. GitLab, GoCD, Jenkins, AWS, Azure, Docker, Artifactory)
  • Experience in operational areas such as change & release mgmt., infrastructure, security, or hosting
  • Ability to lead instructor training in DevOps practices
  • An understanding of the principles and values underlying Lean and Agile flow. Prior success applying Scrum/Kanban/SAFe/LeSS experience is preferred
Event Marketing Project Manager

The Event Marketing Project Manager is responsible for creating event strategy for the Kepware industrial connectivity business, executing manufacturing specific events (both third-party, hosted and digital), and managing multiple aspects of event planning and logistics for up to 25 industry and partner events.  This work includes reviewing goals and objectives with the sales team on a quarterly basis, and for each event—creating event plans for all events, promotion and marketing of events, booth logistics including staff and materials, coordinating product demonstrations, speaking opportunities, media engagement, managing budget, sharing ROI/metrics with sales and marketing leads, coordinating lead follow-up, and post event evaluation.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is results driven and has proven knowledge and experience managing end-to-end event logistics including exhibits, catering, audio-visual, shipping, event timeline and budgeting.  The candidate knows how to deliver white glove experiences for customers and partners and can troubleshoot problems on the fly.

You will join an event marketing team that is primarily located in Needham, Massachusetts.  You will be supporting sales and marketing colleagues that are primarily located in Portland, Maine.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • This position requires extensive travel, at least 40% of your month could be on the road supporting events, managing booth traffic, doing pre- and post-show setup.
  • This position requires extensive interaction and relationship building with vendors, sales, product management, operations and ancillary marketing teams; multiple layers of professional and transparent contact with those organizations is a must.

Skills and knowledge:

Punctual, reliable, highly attentive to details and dedicated to achieving operational excellence through events that meet and exceed the stands for brand and quality of execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field.

Kepware Partner Marketing Manager

As a Kepware Partner Marketing Manager, you will develop the partner marketing program strategy and manage the day to day execution of all marketing initiatives for the Kepware Partner ecosystem. You will work with an extended, global team to create growth strategies and drive partner-led marketing plans to grow partner pipeline. We are looking to hire, onboard, develop, and grow the best and brightest talent at PTC. You will be part of making that happen.

You will be based in Portland, ME and be part of Global Partner Marketing, one of the fastest growing groups within PTC. The Global Partner Marketing team, headquartered in Needham, MA and based around the world, works closely with cross-functional teams; consisting of sales, corporate marketing, events, operations, and social teams – within PTC, Kepware and Partners.

Your Day-To-Day

You will work with Kepware Regional Sales Directors and Partners to create annual partner marketing plans. We look to you to work directly with our top partners to enable them, execute the marketing plans, develop and maintain collateral specific to partners, update Kepware partner pages, and manage market development funds. Your ability to report on partner marketing results will drive growth into the future.

Skills and knowledge

  • Ability to achieve your partner marketing goals working across multi-functional organizations (sales, marketing, product management), at both PTC and with Kepware partners. Also, it’s important to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizations, including executives, marketing and sales stakeholders.
  • Broad strategic marketing skill set that enables you to understand, add value to, develop and “sell” creative marketing strategies.
  • Experience in creating partner marketing plans, overseeing the execution of partner-led marketing activities and tracking and reporting ROI.
Principal Product Marketing Specialist

We are looking for a motivated Principal Product Marketing Specialist to join our team! Attention to detail, an eye for quality, and the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into consumable benefits are crucial.  

We are a team of seasoned marketers that are adept at telling compelling stories that engage and excite customers and partners alike. This is a fast-paced market so we are required to be nimble and skilled at multi-tasking to accomplish our goals.  We work cross-functionally across the entire company and are deemed subject matter experts for our respective disciplines. This role will encompass two industry-leading platforms (Kepware for Industrial Connectivity and ThingWorx for Industrial IoT).   

Your Day-to-Day:

In this key role, you will work with Sales, Product Management, Marketing Communications, Demand Generation, and other teams to drive differentiated positioning, messaging and programs for our market-leading technologies.  You will be heavily involved with crafting innovative and compelling deliverables such as messaging, sales materials and thought leadership content to drive and reinforce the value proposition of IoT and industrial connectivity for marketing campaigns, field enablement, and partner support. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Marketing, you will also assist in the design and focus of materials that build mindshare across the buyer’s journey, empower multiple sales teams to sell more, and solidify our position as the leading Industrial IoT and Industrial Connectivity platforms.  

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Create marketing assets such as product sheets, infographics, solution briefs, white papers, user guides, web tutorials, web content, presentations and other collateral content
  • Conduct relevant market and competitive analysis to help in product positioning and differentiation plus conduct prospect and customer research to assist in use case and ROI development
  • Support awareness and educational activities including webinars, events, demand generation, and customer case studies
  • Work closely with sales enablement to develop the content and then train personnel to support the sales process
  • Work with the demand generation and partner marketing teams to ensure content needs are being met for all go-to-market channels
  • Proven success in creation and execution of product marketing strategies and materials for enterprise software is essential

Sales Administrator

The Sales Administrator is responsible for processing of customer and partner orders while maintaining a high level of customer service.  This includes managing communications concerning pricing agreements, net term negoriations, credit limits, invoice requests etc. between Kepware customers and internal PTC departments.  

The Sales Administrator will work along all branches of the Sales team, facilitating communications between them and other departments (AR, Orders, Credit etc.).  

Your Day-to-Day:

The Sales Administrator will handle inbound phone/email requests from customers and partners focused around orders.  Working alongside the Sales department in order to process orders efficiently and ensure on time and accurate delivery to our customers.

Sales Representative

The Sales Representative is responsible for working with new and existing customers to help diagnose customer needs and recommend the appropriate Kepware products to meet their needs.  Ensuring a high level of customer service, while having a deep understanding of the vertical markets we operate in, in order to identify further opportunities and grow the Kepware business.  

The Sales Representative will be a member of the Kepware Direct Sales team.  They will be working alongside our Partners, Strategic Accounts, Orders Management, Accounts Receivable, Marketing and others to provide a great level of customer service, as well as help the company continue to grow and innovate based on market needs.

Your Day-to-Day:

Daily, you will handle incoming phone/email requests from partners and customers, to help identify appropriate solutions based on unique architectures.  Utilizing CRM to quote, and track opportunities until closing.  The Sales Representative will also work with PM to help determine future enhancements based on customer requests.  As well as work with Marketing to help develop targeted approaches to continually drive new business.  

Skills and knowledge:

  • Continuously maintain a high-level of customer service
  • The ability to identify further opportunity through appropriate inquiry and active listening
  • Needs to be self motivated in order to dive deeper when necessary without the need of direction from higher management

Basic Qualifications:

Strategic Account Manager

The Strategic Account Manager will be joining a growing team responsible for acquiring, managing and increasing sales within assigned accounts. This role is critical to PTC as it directly impacts the Kepware business as well as the SCO and SCP segments. The Strategic Accounts Manager maintains and expands relationships with existing strategically important customers as well as researches and targets new business. The Strategic Accounts Manager represents the entire range of company products and services to designated customers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met by the company.

The current team consists of three Strategic Account Managers. Within target accounts you will be responsible for all activity. You will actively be collaborating with the direct sales team, marketing, product management, support sales and application engineering to ensure customer success.

Your Day-to-Day

The day to day will vary drastically. In this role you will be required to establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel within assigned accounts. You will be tasked with coordinating activities, presentations and site visits with cross functional teams including technical support, product management and our orders management to ensure customer satisfaction. You will be required to track and communicate account information consisting of sales targets, product applications and key performance indicators to achieve sales bookings and revenue targets.
