Differences In Connections to Horner OCS Units Made via GE Ethernet Driver vs. Horner OCS Driver

Last Update: 11/7/2018

Both the GE Ethernet driver and the standalone Horner OCS driver support communications with Horner OCS units; however, the GE Ethernet driver provides fewer communication modes than the Horner OCS driver. GE Ethernet only allows Ethernet communications to Horner OCS units, whereas the Horner OCS Driver supports the following:

  • Ethernet
  • K CAN: PCI CsCAN Interface Card
  • ESD: PCI CsCAN Interface Card
  • CGM500: Horner ISA CsCAN Interface Card
  • Serial: COM1 to COM100

Note: The Horner OCS Driver requires the "CsCAN.dll" that is provided by Horner APG. It also gives access to global registers and more memory types than the GE Ethernet Driver. The Horner OCS Driver is available from Horner Automation Group at
