Does KEPServerEX Support Communications with the Horner XLe-Series OCS?

Last Update: 11/7/2018

Yes, it does. The Horner XL4e Series has an embedded Ethernet port over which the device supports functioning as a Modbus TCP slave. This means that Kepware's Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet driver can be used to communicate with the device.

With older models, the XEC (Ethernet) module should be used. This module works with Kepware's Modbus RTU Serial driver using a virtual COM port or Ethernet Encapsulation.

Note: Because the XLe Series does not support the OCS protocol based on GE Ethernet, the GE Ethernet driver cannot be used. With older XLe models, users may forgo XEC and get the standalone Horner OCS driver from the device vendor at http://www.heapg.com/. This product supports the CsCAN network, which requires that a special card be installed in the PC. Kepware does not sell or support this product directly.
