How do I Troubleshooting Connections with a Client?
Last Update: 11/7/2018
Client software like HMI, SCADA, Historian, and other visualization user interfaces connect to KEPServerEX through the server's client interfaces. To access client interface settings for OPC DA, OPC UA, DDE, and more, open the KEPServerEX Configuration and then click File | Project Properties. For information on troubleshooting connections, refer below.
- Users having problems connecting a client should check the settings in Project Properties to ensure that the client interface is enabled. If the client interface is enabled and users are connecting remotely using OPC DA, there may be issues with Windows security or DCOM blocking the client connection. To learn more, refer to Remote OPC DA Quick Start Guide (DCOM).
- If DCOM is configured properly but users are still having issues connecting a client, use OPC Diagnostics for KEPServerEX. OPC Diagnostics allow users to capture OPC transactions between the client and the server. For information on enabling transaction capture, refer to OPC Diagnostics.
- Users having problems connecting a client that is using another type of connection should refer to HMI/Client Support.
