How to Read a Symbolic Variable That Is Local in Scope to an LD Block

Last Update: 11/7/2018

There is an LD block in the Proficy ME project called "BlockName" that has a local symbolic variable called "LocalVariableName". This variable would get added to the Proficy ME Variable List as "BlockName.LocalVariableName". When importing this tag (SNF/CSV import) into KEPServerEX, the tag would be imported as "!BlockName.LocalVariableName" as expected. But when performing a read/write on the tag, the operation would fail. In order to correctly read/write the tag, the tag name must be prefaced with "LDPROG1" and changed to "!LDPROG1.BlockName.LocalVariableName". This is because of a difference in the way Proficy ME saves the variable in the "Variable List" and the "PVT" in the device.
