Kepware Knowledge Base: Solution
Impact to PC When Using DataLogger
Last Update: 11/7/2018
When logging, data is appended to the target data source. This will cause the data source to grow in size over time. Eventually, it is possible to consume all the space available on the hard drive. The number of items and the rate at which they are logged will determine how quickly and how large the data source grows.
For example, in testing, Kepware created a project using the Wide Table format that logged 1000 items per record every 10 msec. It consumed 5 GB of disk space over 3 days. For more information on optimizing logging operations, refer to DataLogger Tips and Tricks.
