Project Correlation Error with the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver

Last Update: 11/12/2018

The device's OPC items show bad quality, and the server's Event Log displays the error "Project correlation error on device '<device name>'. All tags will resort to Symbolic mode. Physical addressing will resume in 60 seconds."

This error is either produced because the controller project was edited online or because a new project was uploaded to the controller. Online or offline edits affect the memory location of the controller's tags, and the server must reload the project when in Logical Mode (referred to as "Physical Mode" in KEPServerEX V5.9 and earlier) once the edit or upload is complete. To resolve this error:

  • Edit the project during non-production or downtime.
  • Edit the project offline and then upload the edited project.

Note 1: For more information, refer to the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver product manual.

Note 2: As of KEPServerEX version 5.10, the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet driver can automatically detect online or offline project changes. If configured to do so, it will automatically reload the controller project. The default setting is enabled for both online and offline project detection.
