Unable to Start Fanuc Focas Data Window Library Services

Last Update: 11/7/2018

When attempting to start a project using the Fanuc Focas Ethernet driver, the error "Unable to start the Focas Data Window Library services" is received. Older driver versions that were released before Kepware tested with the Focas 2 Library may use the term "Focas1" instead of "Focas." As such, some users will receive "Unable to start the Focas1 Data Window Library services."

This driver requires that the Fanuc Open CNC Focas 1 / Ethernet Library (part number A02B-0207-K732) or the Fanuc Focas 2 Library (part number A02B-0207-K737) be installed on the system. This library provides an Ethernet communications interface between the hardware and driver. It does not have a user interface and does not need to be configured in any way. Its essential pieces consist of the FWLIB32.DLL (version or later) and the FWLIBE1.DLL (version or later). Earlier versions may be used, but unsolicited communications will not be supported. These DLLs must be installed in the System folder located at C:\WINNT\system32 for Windows NT/2000. Although the library does not need to be installed to create a server project, the project will not run without it. This software may be obtained from a Fanuc distributor.

Note: Users that install the library files after starting the server must stop and restart the server in order for the new library files to load.
