Activating a Product after Reinstalling the Operating System

Problem:
Kepware products are no longer activated after the operating system is reinstalled.
Solution:
Because the activation process links the purchased product to the computer's hardware, it is possible to reactivate the product after reinstalling the operating system. For more information on activation, refer to Managing Kepware Software Licenses.
If the computer hardware has changed, users will receive the following message when trying to activate the product in the My Kepware portal: "Error processed during activation: 7288: The activation of the fulfillment is denied by the activation policy because Fulfill count exceeded the available seat count. You may need to contact Kepware to discuss options for re-commissioning the license."
Note: It is recommended that users transfer all Activation IDs to the My Kepware portal before completing a major computer upgrade (especially hardware changes). This is the same procedure for moving a license from one computer to another, except completed before and after upgrade.
