Adding Hardware Key Support To Windows XP Embedded
Last Update: 11/12/2018
Users that require hardware key capabilities on Windows XP Embedded systems cannot use the hardware key support included in the non-Embedded OS install. Instead, they must add the Sentinel HASP Run-time Environment Installer components to the XP Embedded image. For more information, refer to the instructions below.
- To start, open an internet browser and navigate to the Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd. website at http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp-srm/vendor.aspx.
- In the Sentinel HASP Developers' Downloads page, locate Sentinel HASP Run-Time Downloads. This section contains a table with the following entry:

Note: Kepware has tested version 5.86 with the KEPServerEX version 5.3 release. - Double-click on "Sentinel_HASP_XPE_Run-time_Install.zip" to open.
- Next, open "readme.html" and follow the instructions as outlined.
Note: Although the hardware key feature was available to users running Windows XP Embedded on KEPServerEX version 5.3 and below, the install fails with an error message similar to "Unable to start hasplms service with parameters 1080 10531 Error Code: 48 5 574". KEPServerEX version 5.4 and above detects when users are running Windows XP Embedded and makes the hardware key feature unavailable.
