Does KEPServerEX Limit Channels, Devices, or Tags in a Project?

Last Update: 11/12/2018

Channels and devices are limited, but tags are not. The maximum number of channels and devices that are supported depend on the driver being used. For example, the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver supports 256 channels and the BACnet/IP Driver supports 100 channels.

In KEPServerEX version 4, drivers support at least 100 channels unless specified in the driver help file. Some drivers support up to 256 channels. In KEPServerEX version 5, users can view a summary of each driver that includes both the number of channels and the number of devices supported per channel. To view a list of all drivers currently installed, open the server Configuration and then click Help | Support Information. Then, click Versions, select a driver, and click Summary.

Note 1: When using two drivers that each allow 100 channels per project, users will be able to create a total of 200 channels.

Note 2: Each channel consumes one process thread. It is possible to exceed the number of threads available to the server Runtime process depending on the operating system and the amount of RAM available.
