Restoring iFIX Communications with KEPServerEX V4 after Upgrading to KEPServerEX V5

Problem:
iFIX cannot connect to an existing KEPServerEX V4 server once KEPServerEX V5 has been installed with the GE iFIX Native Interface components.

Possible Cause:
The KEPServerEX V5 components cannot be used by the legacy KEPServerEX V4 server. In order to resume communications with the legacy server, users must restore the original GE iFIX Native Interface components that ship with KEPServerEX V4.

Solution 1:
Manually remove the files. For more information, refer to the instructions below.

  1. Start the KEPServerEX V5 installation and then select Modify.
  2. In the Native Client Interfaces menu, deselect the GE iFIX Native Interface.
  3. Complete the modified installation.
  4. Next, browse to the iFIX installation directory and then delete the following files:
    • Idsdidw.exe
    • Idsstext.drv
    • Idsstsr.dll
    • Idsver.drv5
  5. Install or update the KEPServerEX V4 server to replace the files.

Solution 2: Uninstall Both Products
Uninstall both products. Since the files are labeled as "shared," users must uninstall both servers in order to clean up the files. For more information, refer to the instructions below.

  1. Uninstall KEPServerEX V4 and KEPServerEX V5.
  2. Reinstall KEPServerEX V4. This will reinstall the iFIX components as well.

Note: If planning to reinstall KEPServerEX V5, do not select the GE iFIX Native Interface components.
