Failed to Discover a BACnet Device Connected to the Network

Last Update: 11/7/2018

A BACnet device created in the server project is configured to use Whols/Iam for Device Discovery. Users may encounter the following problems:

1. Automatic tag generation fails in the new project.
2. The server fails to connect to the device on projects that have been moved from one PC to another.

Possible Cause:
WhoIs/Iam is a Broadcast UDP message. In most cases, there is a smart switch located between the server and the physical device that is blocking Broadcast UDP messages.

1. In the smart switch, change the setting to allow Broadcast UDP messages.
2. Change the device's Discovery property to the BACnet device's IP address.
