Unable to Establish a SuiteLink Connection After Installing Wonderware DA Server Runtime Components 3.0 SP2
Last Update: 11/12/2018
Wonderware's June 2011 release of the Server Runtime Components 3.0 SP2 included enhancements intended to increase the security of the SuiteLink Service Library. One of these enhancements limits certain names within the connection path to 14 characters, which prevents SuiteLink from making a connection when the node or server name exceeds the character limit. To address this, Wonderware created Hot Fix L00117361, which provides a correctly sized connection patch limit while protecting SuiteLink's security. The new WWSL.dll file version 59.23.2.1 (2011-10-06) replaces file version 58.9.0.0 (2011-03-03). For more information on installation, refer to the instructions below.
- Download the Hot Fix by clicking L00117361 or visiting www.wonderware.com. It is recommended that users shut down all Wonderware applications that use the SuiteLink Protocol prior to installation. These applications are usually as follows:
- InTouch WindowViewer
- Wonderware DAServers
- Wonderware Historian
- Wonderware Application Server
- Next, create a backup of the WWSL.dll file from the [RootDrive:]\Program Files\Common Files\ArchestrA folder. If a Wonderware Application Server Platform is deployed on the node, shut down the platform through the SMC Platform Manager. This will stop all the engines that use the SuiteLink protocol.
- Next, open the Control Panel and select Administrative Tools | Services. Then, stop the Wonderware SuiteLink service.
- In the [RootDrive:]\Program Files\Common Files\ArchestrA folder, replace the WWSL.dll file with the file provided by the Hot Fix.
- Next, restart the computer to put the updated WWSL.DLL file into effect. This will ensure that all the Wonderware applications have successfully loaded the SuiteLink binaries.
