How Does Using KEPServerEX Within a Cluster Affect Licenses?

Last Update: 11/7/2018

Kepware products may be licensed using FlexNET in physical and virtual computers. Each computer that comprises the clustered computer must be licensed regardless of whether it is physical or virtual. The licenses' trusted storage is bound by a HostID in order to identify the computers. A Virtual Machine Instance ID (VMID) is used to configure trusted storage on a virtual machine. The binding element is a hash of the virtual machine's Universally Unique ID (UUID). At this time, the two virtual computers supported are VMWare and Hyper-V.
