Sending an Unallocated Unicode String Causes the Invensys Wonderware SuiteLink Service to Crash

Last Update: 11/7/2018

Problem:
Sending an unallocated unicode string causes the Invensys Wonderware SuiteLink service to crash. The affected components are not installed by Kepware, but are utilized when establishing a SuiteLink connection.

Solution:
To bypass the possibility of a crash, upgrade the Wonderware DAServer Runtime Components to version 3.0 SP3. To access this update and others, refer to the Invensys Global Technical Support WDN website at http://wdn.wonderware.com/sites/WDN/Pages/Downloads/Software.aspx.

Note: For more information on the unallocated Unicode string vulnerability, refer to ICS-ALERT-12-136-01--WONDERWARE SUITELINK UNALLOCATED UNICODE STRING.
