ClientAce® End-of-Life FAQs

Since going to market with ClientAce in 2009, technology has evolved and market demand has shifted as a result of additional partners offering modern solutions for OPC Client connectivity.  As industrial automation trends have matured, Kepware has gained valuable insight into its integral position as a utility for developing and deploying IIoT solutions.  This landscape, combined with the effort required to update the underlying framework to allow ClientAce to function with more secure and modern tools, have informed Kepware’s decision to discontinue the ClientAce product from the market.
 
Appropriate, affordable and in some cases, more modern, solutions exist in the market from several of Kepware’s closely aligned industry partners.   Leveraging these partnerships allows Kepware to keep its development focused on innovating its industrial connectivity software.  Kepware’s reputation as the leader in connecting diverse automation devices and software applications underscores the decision to re-align its product offerings by discontinuing ClientAce to reinforce out-of-the-box functionality and rapid time-to-value for customers.

What is the End of Life timeline?

The End of Life timeline is outlined in the End of Life Notification Letter.  Specific dates for support contract expirations will vary.

Can I continue using ClientAce as I always have during the EOL period?

Yes. ClientAce will continue to be available for download and will operate as it always has during the EOL period.  Kepware suggests exploring replacement options proactively ahead of the conclusion of the EOL period.

Can I continue using ClientAce after my support contract expires?

Yes.  Current versions of ClientAce will still be functional, however support from Kepware Technical Support will no longer be available.

Can I continue using ClientAce after the EOL period is over and the product is decommissioned?

Yes, but it is not recommended.  Kepware suggests exploring replacement options proactively ahead of the conclusion of the EOL period.

Will Kepware continue to invest in the product feature-development?

No.  Kepware will continue to support the product through the conclusion of the EOL period for customers that hold existing support and maintenance contracts.

Will there be any changes in how the product is currently supported as a result of this EOL process?
