Connecting with Remote Wonderware Clients

When using Wonderware's OPC client to connect to the server, users should do the following:

  • Verify that the DCOM security settings have been properly configured. For more information, refer to DCOM Configuration for KEPServerEX.
  • Verify that the correct OPC Program ID is being used. The correct Program ID for KEPServerEX V4 is "Kepware.KEPServerEX.V4".

When using SuiteLink to connect to the server, users should do the following:

  • Verify that the Access Name includes the correct Application Name. For KEPServerEX, the correct Application Name is "servermain".
  • Verify that the correct Node Name is being used for the PC on which the server is running. It should not contain forward or backward slashes.
  • In KEPServerEX, ensure that the FastDDE/SuiteLink tab is visible in the Tools | Options dialog. If it is not, refer to KEPServerEX: FastDDE/SuiteLink Tab Is Not Visible From Within the Server.

Note 1: FastDDE/SuiteLink support is built into InTouch. Users do not need to install extra software on an InTouch node in order for it to connect remotely to the server. For more information, refer to KEPServerEX Client Connectivity Guide for Wonderware's InTouch.

Note 2: Kepware recommends using Fast DDE/DDE SuiteLink Connectivity to the server whenever possible. This will remove the need for another application between the InTouch project and data.
